Dawn’s silence is a loaded gun
and I am trigger-happy,
coxcomb god-like in dappled light and
early morning dew drops,
weapon poised atop a
flimsy daisy-chain barricade.
Cock-a-doodle-do, cocked –
my piece crows no safety.
